Gelato ICE: Itanium(R) Conference & Expo Singapore 2007

Urbana, Illinois, United States

Gelato ICE: Itanium(R) Conference & Expo (http://www.ice.gelato.org) will be held on October 1-2, 2007 at the Biopolis in Singapore. Gelato ICE is the world's only conference dedicated specifically to Linux(R) on the Intel(R) Itanium architecture. The conference will be hosted by the Bioinformatics Institute, Institute of High Performance Computing, and National Grid Office and sponsored by HP.

The technical program(http://www.ice.gelato.org/program/program.php) is outstanding and covers basic Itanium architecture, porting, tuning, virtualization, security, reliability/availability/serviceability (RAS), mainframe emulation, and Java. The program also includes more in-depth technical presentations to allow experienced users to further enhance Itanium-based application performance on the Linux operating system.

"The Itanium architecture was designed for mission-critical, data-intensive workloads by offering great scalable performance and RAS as critical product differentiators. We are very pleased to provide ICE presentations on these topics," stated Mark K. Smith, Gelato managing director. "We are also excited about once again holding Gelato ICE in Singapore, given the strong Itanium processor adoption rate in the Asia-Pacific region."

Gelato ICE is the conference for ISVs, system integrators, technical users, application and tool developers, and system researchers and vendors looking to unlock the potential of Linux on Itanium architecture. The event will address current enterprise and technical computing issues, collaborative solutions specific to Linux on the Itanium processor, and will feature presentations, poster sessions, and the exchange of information. Attendees can network with key ISVs, system vendors, and industrial users. Participants will learn how to maximize the performance of their systems and discover which tools to use and how to use them.

Register for Gelato ICE Singapore 2007 on-line (http://www.ice.gelato.org/registration/index.php) or on-site the day of the conference.

About Itanium Architecture

The Itanium architecture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itanium) is primarily used in mission-critical enterprise computing and high-performance computing environments. The Itanium chip is a true 64-bit processor produced by Intel which can be found in systems from a variety of hardware vendors.

About Gelato

The Gelato Federation (http://www.gelato.org) is the global technical community dedicated to advancing Linux on the Intel Itanium-based platform through collaboration, education, and leadership. Gelato participants have a shared goal of producing open-source solutions for mission-critical enterprise and technical computing users.
