China Mobile's JMCC Selects Kodiak Networks for Push-to-Talk (PTT) Deployment

Hong Kong S.A.R and Dallas, United States

Jiangsu Mobile Communications Corporation (JMCC), a wholly owned subsidiary of China Mobile Ltd., the largest telecommunications operator in the world and the largest publicly listed Chinese corporation, announced that it has selected Kodiak Networks to supply Push-to-Talk (PTT) technology for its customers in the Jiangsu Province.

The initial implementation will begin immediately and builds upon a successful commercial pilot serving 20,000 users in the Jiangsu Province earlier this year. JMCC selected the PTT application, which is part of the comprehensive Kodiak Connected Portfolio(TM), after an extensive evaluation of competing technologies available from global vendors. The wireless operator intends to market PTT services to Chinese enterprises, many of which employ tens of thousands of people who need more effective mobile communications capabilities.

"As China Mobile has been evaluating PTT technology for awhile now, the commercial launch by JMCC will set a new benchmark for the Chinese mobile PTT market. As one of the most innovative provincial mobile operators in China, Jiangsu Mobile's selection of Kodiak Networks for its PTT deployment shows JMCC's desire to differentiate and seek new growth, killer applications," said XJ Wang, vice president of Asia-Pacific Research, Yankee Group. "The Kodiak solution, which has been successfully deployed by AT&T in the U.S., leverages the existing voice network and will enable JMCC to provide high-quality, ubiquitous PTT service wherever they have cellular coverage. This benefit, coupled with a unique set of applications features, will enable JMCC to distinguish and differentiate their mobile service offerings in this region."

"We chose Kodiak Networks because of its unique and proven PTT capability," said Zhou Zhijiang, General Manager of the Data Department, Jiangsu Mobile Communications Company. "We look forward to a successful launch of the Kodiak PTT system at Jiangsu Mobile."

"We are delighted to add JMCC, to our global list of customers," said John Vice, President and CEO Kodiak Networks. "We intend to provide full support to this subsidiary of China Mobile as it brings innovative PTT services to millions of wireless customers for the first time."

The relationship with JMCC strengthens Kodiak's ongoing commitment to the Chinese market; the company has had a local office in Beijing since 2005.
