SiBEAM, Inc., a leading innovator of millimeter wave (mmWave) solutions and developer of high-speed wireless communications platforms, today announced the appointment of two seasoned leaders to its executive team.
Al Scalise recently joined SiBEAM as Vice President of Systems and Software Engineering with over 22 years of experience in IC design, system and software development and product management. In his role, Scalise will focus on developing the systems and software to bring SiBEAM's wireless solutions to customer applications. As one of the inventors of HDMI, Scalise brings in experience from Silicon Image where he was Director of the Design Engineering team developing HDMI devices for consumer electronics products. Scalise's prior experience and accomplishments include his role as Principal Engineer architecting and designing digital video processing ASICs for DVDO. He also spent ten years at Apple Computer as a Lead Design Engineer where he was nominated for the prestigious CEO Technical Award for research and development in recognition of his groundbreaking work on the Power Macintosh. He has authored nine U.S. patents and has a B.S. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the California State Polytechnic University Pomona.
SiBEAM also added George Palmer to its executive leadership team as Vice President of Operations. As Vice President of Operations, Palmer will be responsible for manufacturing, product engineering, test engineering, quality management, packaging, facilities and IT. He brings over 30 years of semiconductor operations, development and product management experience. Most recently, Palmer worked as Vice President of Operations at PortalPlayer, Inc., which was recently acquired by NVIDIA and is notable for providing music player chip controllers for Apple's iPod products. He has held various leadership positions including Vice President of Operations and Manufacturing at wireless company Bermai, Inc., and earlier at Quantum3D, Inc., as VP of Operations and Product Management. Before working with startup companies, Mr. Palmer worked at National Semiconductor and Fairchild Semiconductor for 23 years managing operations, development and marketing for high volume product lines including PC Products, Ethernet Systems, Digital Video and Microprocessors. Mr. Palmer received his degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley.
