Petaluma, California, United States
Teknovus, the leading provider of Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (G-EPON) chips for the deployment of triple-play services in FTTH (Fiber To The Home) and FTTB (Fiber To The Business) broadband access networks and OE Solutions, the leading supplier of optics for the PON market in Korea and Japan, today announced collaboration in the development of Teknovus' Turbo EPON solutions. Teknovus' Turbo EPON solutions encompass OE Solutions' advanced optical transceivers. Teknovus is demonstrating Turbo 2.5G EPON at OFC in Anaheim, California.
OE Solutions is the second major optical transceiver company to announce collaboration with Teknovus on Turbo EPON. Teknovus' first Turbo EPON product is the TK3714, a 2.5G ONU chip. It is fully compatible with existing Teknovus EPON deployments, having auto-sensing for detecting downstream speeds. It allows service providers to install 1.25G/2.5G Central Office OLT capability when desired and without costly ONU upgrades. This future-proof Turbo EPON ONU provides ITU-T GPON speeds with all of the cost and performance advantages of widely deployed IEEE EPON. The TK3714 supports an effective and immediate bandwidth upgrade path for more than 25 service providers with EPON-based IPTV deployments across five continents.
Mr. YK Park, President & CEO of OE Solutions, stated, "We are meeting the performance and cost points of access fiber networks with our advanced optical transceivers. We are pleased to collaborate with Teknovus, the only fiber access chip vendor with future-proof solutions for equipment vendors, service-providers and subscribers. Teknovus enables IPTV and advanced triple-play services today on a 1x64 PON; Turbo EPON guarantees support for new, high-quality bandwidth-heavy applications on a 1X128 PON."
Mr. Greg Caltabiano, President & CEO of Teknovus, stated, "We are pleased to add OE Solutions as a partner to our Turbo EPON ecosystem. OE Solutions is the leading supplier of optical transceivers in Korea and Japan. Our collaboration provides a clear signal that EPON is the choice of service providers for fiber access networks. EPON provides the simplicity of Ethernet architecture for IPTV, availability of low-cost solutions and the roadmap to 10G EPON."
Come see Teknovus at OFC, booth 1700, Anaheim Convention Center, March 27 -29, 2007.
