Celestix Networks, developer of enterprise class security appliances, announced a definitive agreement to acquire privately-held Bluewave Networks, Inc., of San Jose, California. Bluewave Networks has offices in the US and a software development center in Chennai, India. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Founded in 2001 by two Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, Guna Ramireddy and Kumar Sripadam, Bluewave Networks develops web infrastructure analytics and network monitoring software and was awarded the top ten startups to watch in 2004 by Network World magazine. Ramireddy was appointed the Managing Director of Celestix Networks India. A veteran of the computer networking industry, Ramireddy has worked for over 15 years with leading telecommunications companies including Cisco Systems, Fore Systems and Redback Networks.
"We are very excited about this strategic acquisition and felt that Bluewave had a solid portfolio of products," said Ravi Lingarkar, CEO of Celestix Networks. "Perhaps more importantly, we were impressed with the talented engineering team and the potential to adapt the Bluewave products to address the security market."
"We always felt this acquisition was a natural fit from a product synergy standpoint. Both organizations are technically diverse and compliment each other well," stated Guna Ramireddy, CEO of Bluewave Networks. "The acquisition also gives us immediate access to Celestix's worldwide sales and distribution channels in more than 30 countries."
Bluewave Networks has developed a comprehensive suite of end-to-end infrastructure analytics products, including Web Application Analytics and Network Analytics software. Web Application Analytics provides business process monitoring, service availability and performance monitoring of real users, real user tracking and automated root cause analysis of end-users' problems. Network Analytics allows Networking staff to do real-time monitoring and analysis of BGP/OSPF routed networks and network traffic flows, detect routing and traffic anomalies and visualize routed network topologies from any number of heterogeneous devices.
"As the demand for Celestix products increases, we really felt we needed a targeted presence in the fast-growing Indian market," noted Yong Thye Lin, President of Celestix Networks. "The Bluewave acquisition will accelerate that growth and strengthen our leadership in the security appliance space."
With the acquisition, Celestix will continue to increase the number of channel products available through its channel. An integrated appliance version of the Bluewave Networks Web Application Analytics product is currently slated for Q2 2007 release.
