'Book Midwife' Declares War on Literary Agents

The Book Midwife, operating out of London UK, would like to take away the power of literary agents to decide which books get published and which do not.

London, UK (PRWeb) March 19, 2007 -- Tired of literary agents 'playing God', Mindy Gibbins-Klein aims to right the wrongs of the publishing industry. She believes fervently that every book deserves to be published. Calling herself The Book Midwife™, Gibbins-Klein has set up a specialist service to help people that want to write and publish books. A published author and leading UK writing and publishing consultant, she understands the changing environment in the publishing industry.

"It used to be painful and disheartening trying to publish a book and being at the mercy of the literary agents. After a number of rejections, many authors give up and never see their 'baby' in print. That is so sad and so wrong. I guess I'm here to put it right," Gibbins-Klein says.

Authors need to know all their options, she adds. The face of the industry has changed dramatically, opening up great opportunities for those who want to control the publication process.

The Book Midwife™ gets involved with some authors long before the delivery. She works with authors who are struggling to finish their books, and even those who haven't written anything yet, but have been meaning to write a book for some time.

"Sometimes all people need is someone to help them plan things and hold them accountable so they can keep the momentum going. As a consultant and coach, I have done this for clients for many years, but I have a special place in my heart for authors. After all, I went through it as well - the hard way."

Gibbins-Klein is often asked what kind of books she is willing to take on. The answer, it seems, is 'books with an important message'. She has worked with numerous authors of fiction and non-fiction, health and wellness, and personal development books. The only category she is disinclined to accept is pornography.

Note to Editors: Mindy Gibbins-Klein, The Book Midwife™, is author of A Dance in the Desert, based on a true story of a young man's battle with epilepsy. Mindy is available as a source for background, expert commentary or story ideas on book writing and publishing. Please feel free to contact Mindy at +44 (0)20 8364 2884.
