Hyatt Center Chicago Makes Room for Authentic Italian Café

A play on Italy's renowned capital city and pronounced the same, Caffé RoM brings the modern Italian coffee bar experience to Chicago. This theme continues in the design of RoM's caffes, featuring custom-made bars created by the finest Italian designers and craftsmen at Rossi Dimensions in Italy. Caffé RoM has brought its unique Italian flair to a second location now open at the Hyatt Center, in Chicago's Loop district.

RoM is the first contemporary Italian cafe to set up shop in the US, and is a dramatic departure from the typical American cafe. For Europeans living in Chicago as well as all epicurean citizens, Caffé RoM offers a refreshing change from the chain coffee bar, both visually and in its product offering. The concept of Caffé RoM was born out of the fervent desire to recreate the fine coffee bar experience found in Italy.

Proprietor Joe DiCarlo says RoM offers customers, "The authentic atmosphere of an Italian coffee bar." DiCarlo also owns and operates five popular Caffé Baci restaurants in downtown Chicago. Caffé RoM partner James Louras is a Chicago native who has worked in the restaurant industry for nearly 30 years, including tenure with exclusive coffee roaster Caffé Umbria. Louras says of RoM, "It's all about the Italian Lifestyle - great coffee, delicious pastry, and a cool environment."

Early morning RoM offers a variety of coffees, juice and pastry service. Lunch features gourmet sandwiches, including Italian-style Panini, and freshly made salads. Mid-afternoon choices include specialty coffee drinks, imported Gelato and fine chocolates. For afternoon and evening refreshments RoM offers wine, beer, champagne, Peroni and Campari starting this Spring at select locations.
