"I was checking the web and by sheer chance saw that eCard was up for sale," said Sam. "The deal was done literally on my mobile as I boarded the plane for Canada. This means that we now own three more domain names in addition to DevilCards.com"
"Securing these domain names -- www.ecard.co.uk, www.ecards.co.uk and www.e-card.co.uk -- is a real coup for us. We are extremely reliant on the Google PPC for our traffic and so this deal will give our natural search listing an enormous boost and should pay for itself within 1 year."
Taking a look around DevilCards.com it's an impressive website with an even more impressive list of advertising clients- Barclays Bank, Volkswagen, BT, Littlewoods, TruPrint, Toyota and the Welsh Tourist Board to name but a few.
Heaton believes that aggressive marketing is the way forward and is looking to float the company on the Stock Exchange within two years. He hasn't had to borrow to make the purchase, which has to put him in an even stronger position to become a worldwide market leader in eCards.
The statistics for DevilCards.com already make impressive reading. It's currently signing up 30,000 new users sending over 55,000 eCards per month, making them number 1 in the country by sheer volume of sales. On Valentine's Day alone they received 11,000 new registrations in one day which resulted in 26,000 cards being sent out. The bulk of DevilCards.com clients are young affluent females who choose to send eCards as a quick and instant way of keeping in touch with friends and partners. Going on current figures, DevilCards.com is on target to turnover its first £1 million within 2 years.
Heaton has now taken on a financial controller, David Baglow, to help keep the finger on the financial pulse of the company, which looks set to beat even stronger in the future.
