Exposure: The Arcata High Film Festival 2007 opens call for entries statewide.

Arcata, CA (PRWeb) March 11, 2007 -- Festival Coordinators for Exposure: The Arcata High Film Festival 2007 announced today that they will be expanding the festival to include submissions from high school students aged 19 and under throughout the entire State of California. This will mark the first year since the festival's creation in 2003 that submissions will be accepted statewide.

The purpose of the expansion is to encourage diversity among student filmmakers. Opening the festival statewide will allow students with different lifestyles and backgrounds to submit their films, and in doing so, help them share their artistic achievements with others. The expansion will also allow filmmakers to gain unprecedented exposure in a community with more artists per capita than any other county in California.

The festival is still open to high school students in Humboldt County and coordinators will ensure that local students--those who have made the past three years so successful--are given proper recognition during the event. The first hour of screenings will be dedicated to those films that have made previous festivals memorable, including winners from the 2004 and 2005 festivals.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 13th, 2007. Submissions must fit into one of the following categories: Documentary, Experimental, Animation, Social Commentary, Personal Essay, Drama, or Music Video. There is an entry fee of $10 per submission and discounts for multiple submissions. Films must be submitted on DVD or MiniDV tape, and may not exceed 12 minutes in length. The festival will be held on Friday, May 18th from 5:30-9:00pm. For more information visit www.ahsfilmfestival.com
