Construction of Fujian Provincial Electric and Power Company's 32-story headquarters was completed last month in Fuzhou City, China. The contemporary office high-rise, with a 69-meter-high communications tower, provides a landmark building for the regional power company and the coastal city of Fuzhou, capital of Fujian Province. The total building area is 598,800 square feet.
The building is set away from the main street, allowing a green, open space at the entrance. This plaza extends through the lobby and connects to a quiet courtyard at the other side of the building.
"With its roof gardens and green sky lounges, the project is a vertical oasis in an urban setting," said Ming Zhang, Senior Partner and Design Director, MulvannyG2 Architecture. "The building expresses the high-tech, state-of-the-art characteristics of the company while providing a comfortable interior office environment emphasizing sustainable design for its employees."
The project features a spacious work environment with multi-level lounge areas provided for employees every two to three floors. The building's south-north orientation, its multi-level sky garden spaces, and its cost-effective revolving natural ventilation system are some key sustainable design features.
