MobIncentive.com Launches New Facebook Application for Social Challenges

MobIncentive's new Facebook application offers an easy way for people to create, share, and track challenges for their friends, family, and the world.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) July 5, 2007 -- Today MobIncentive is launching an application built on the Facebook platform that offers easy creation of personal prizes and competitions. Also available as a standalone web application, MobIncentive.com offers a way for people to create, share, and track challenges for their friends, family, and the world.

"MobIncentive is built on the concept of social incentives and group challenges. Facebook, with its extensive social network, gives people an ideal platform to share their challenges and invite others to join in," says co-founder Andrew Lin. "Everyone has something they'd like to change, whether it's a stop smoking challenge for a friend, a policy change at a major corporation, or something more lighthearted like a karaoke competition. We offer an easy way to create, track, and pay out on these challenges."

"There's a long history of prizes and cash rewards being used to get things done," says co-founder Brian Sabino. "It was the Orteig Prize that motivated Charles Lindbergh's famous flight across the Atlantic. More recently the Ansari X Prize used a cash reward to motivate the creation of a reusable spacecraft. Even Netfilx is offering a prize to anyone who can improve their recommendation algorithm."

MobIncentive democratizes the process of prize creation by allowing users to post any competition they feel passionate about. The challenges a user creates or contributes to are displayed on the user's mini-feed, as well as a Facebook profile widget. The profile widget provides a definitive way for a person to show that he is putting his money where his mouth is.

In addition to prize creation, MobIncentive provides a medium for crowd-sponsored incentives associated with a competition. Any user of the application can increase the prize for the contest by pledging additional funds. Meritorious ideas will attract bigger rewards and are more likely to be completed. When a challenge is completed, the contest judge can initiate payment directly to the contest winner through PayPal.

Facebook is a social networking platform and website with more than 24 million active users. More than half of its users visit the site daily, allowing for widespread discovery, distribution, and usage of its applications.
