Frost & Sullivan, a global growth consulting company hosted its inaugural ASEAN Automotive Awards in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, 28 June 2007.

The Awards seek to recognize best practices and outstanding performance by automotive companies in South East Asia.

The awards banquet was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Rafidah Aziz, Minister of International Trade & Industry, Malaysia.

Frost & Sullivan honors and recognizes companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development.

Mr. Kavan Mukhtyar, Partner and Head of the Automotive & Transportation Practice, Asia Pacific at Frost & Sullivan said the award recipients for the Frost & Sullivan 2007 ASEAN Automotive Awards were identified based on an in-depth research conducted by Frost & Sullivan's analysts.

He also says that automotive companies must learn from these industry best practices to remain competitive in today's increasingly challenging marketplace.

"The recipients of the Frost & Sullivan 2007 ASEAN Automotive Awards clearly demonstrated outstanding leadership in their own market segments. A common factor among these companies was an unwavering focus on a 'customer centric growth strategy' in an extremely challenging environment in 2006," he says.

"Successful automotive companies nurture and proactively manage a distinct portfolio of brands targeting customers at various price points," he observes, adding that they understand the value of creating and keeping the brand promise.

Mr. Mukhtyar also says that an efficient distribution network is a must to deliver a satisfied customer.

The short-listed companies for the Frost & Sullivan 2007 ASEAN Automotive Awards are evaluated on a variety of actual market performance indicators which include revenue growth; market share and growth in market share; leadership in product innovation; marketing strategy and business development strategy.

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) and Singapore Precision Engineering & Tools Association (SPETA) are the supporting organizations for the event.
