Convergys Corporation (NYSE:CVG), a global leader in providing customer care, human resources and billing services, announced today that the White House Fellows Class of 2006/2007 visited Convergys' Atria facility in Gurgaon, India, as part of its global familiarization tour.
In hosting the distinguished visitors, Convergys noted that the White House Fellows program is America's most prestigious program for leadership and public service. White House Fellowships offer exceptional young men and women first-hand experience working at the highest levels of the federal government.
Myrna Blyth, Chairman of the President's Commission on White House Fellows, led the delegation along with the 12 other Fellows. Sanjit Bal, Convergys Director of Business Development in Gurgaon, facilitated the visit and site tour, along with Sharad Talwar, Site Leader and Director of Operations for Convergys' Atria facility in Gurgaon, and Lalit Lalwani, Senior Manager of Convergys' Atria Command Center.
During the visit, the Convergys executives gave a presentation covering the growth of the BPO industry in India and provided an overview of Convergys and its global service delivery capabilities and current presence of more than 11,000 employees in India.
The visiting Fellows asked a number of questions about Convergys' training and talent management programs. They also asked about Convergys' business model, infrastructure, and the future of the contact center industry in India. The Fellows enjoyed a short tour of the Atria center, including the Command Center, and were able to get a perspective of the operations environment and the significant investment Convergys has made in India.
Convergys currently operates seven of the largest, multi-client, US-company-owned, contact centers in cities across India including New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and Bangalore. Employees at these contact centers provide technical help desk services along with customer support for Fortune 1000 companies in financial services, communications, consumer products, and other industries. Including the Gurgaon facility, Convergys has more than 11,000 employees in India.
