CardioVascular BioTherapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB:CVBT) today announced the completion of its pre-clinical research program to assess the effects of its protein-based drug candidate, CVBT-141F, in reducing brain damage due to stroke. Results from three independent animal studies, summarized in the accompanying graphic, demonstrated that CVBT 141F significantly reduced the stroke-affected area in the brain as compared to control groups, while treated animals had significantly less neurological defects as assessed by several behavioral tests.

Stroke is the third major cause of death in the United States. According to the American Heart Association, about 700,000 people each year experience a new or recurrent stroke in the United States, resulting in an estimated 5.7 million stroke patients with an estimated direct and indirect cost to treat and care for these patients of $62.7 billion in 2007.
