Local Charity Kicks-Off Unique Online Fundraising Drive to Build Orphanage in Rwanda

Nibakure Children's Village (NCV), a Minnesota and Wisconsin based charity, has kicked-off its first Internet-based fundraising drive through GiveMeaning.com. NCV's goal for this campaign is to raise $136,500 to break-ground and build the first NCV home for orphans of Rwanda.

(PRWeb) January 4, 2007 -- Nibakure Children's Village (NCV), a Minnesota and Wisconsin based charity, has kicked-off its first Internet-based fundraising drive through www.GiveMeaning.com. NCV's goal for this campaign is to raise $136,500 to break-ground and build the first NCV home for orphans of Rwanda. As a result of the 1994 genocide and the HIV/AIDS pandemic, Rwanda has the highest proportion of orphans and orphan-led households in the world. NCV's ultimate goal is to create a children's village that will be a home for 150 children of all backgrounds and ages between 8 to 18 years old. The village will consist of 15 "family" homes where children will be raised by "mothers" and "aunts" who are women that are not related to the children yet who are committed to their care. NCV will focus on the whole child's needs through on-site education, healthcare, counseling and spiritual development. "Nibakure" means "let them grow, give them hope."

GiveMeaning.com is a secure, online charitable foundation that provides a platform through which charities can raise money through the simple means of sending e-mails to supporters and having them donate on-line.

"NCV is extremely excited about this new fundraising campaign that will help turn NCV's vision into reality," says Floriane Robins-Brown, Executive Director of NCV. "We have all received forwarded e-mails with articles, pictures and an occasional bad joke. Now, through GiveMeaning's online fundraising platform, NCV can reach out to people, who will reach out to other people, who will give their financial support for NCV's first children's home of hope in Rwanda."

Individuals can support NCV by going to the GiveMeaning.com website, search for "nibakure" and making a tax-deductible, on-line donation. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to NCV's project. The second easy step is for individuals to e-mail others about how they can support the NCV project.

To learn more about NCV, please visit its website at www.nibakure.org or call 612-578-6560. NCV is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt Minnesota nonprofit.
