He burst on to the scene at the Sundance Film Festival in 1991 with the critically acclaimed and wildly successful RESERVOIR DOGS, which brought his talent to the attention of critics and filmgoers worldwide and racked up awards across the globe. Also nominated for his work in PULP FICTION was John Travolta, in a performance that is credited as his "comeback" role and that Tarantino envisioned and championed. In 1997, Tarantino wrote and directed JACKIE BROWN starring Pam Grier, Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Forster, landing Grier and Jackson Golden Globe nominations and Forster an Oscar nomination. He wrote and directed KILL BILL VOL. 1 and KILL BILL VOL. 2 which were shot concurrently but released in 2003 and 2004 respectively and earned over $150 million each at the box office and starred an eclectic cast including Uma Thurman and David Carradine.
