Muscle Shoals, AL (PRWeb) January 14, 2007 -- Acclaimed singer/songwriter Russell Smith and the Grammy Award winning band The Amazing Rhythm Aces are currently recording their newest CD Midnight Communion at Cypress Moon Studios, formerly known as Muscle Shoals Sound. The CD marks one of the first albums to be recorded at the studio since local filmmaker Tonya S. Holly purchased the historic building to turn it into a fully integrated feature film production and music-recording studio.

"We are thrilled to be recording at Cypress Moon Studios which is keeping the heart of Muscle Shoals Sound alive" said Russell, who wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on the new "bar as a church" themed CD which incorporates the unique blend of country, soul and blues Russell and the Aces have been generating for more than 30 years. "There is something indescribable about the studio and the energy inherent in it that has long inspired a beautiful melding of all styles of music."

"It is truly a musicians studio and one that has been used by some of the most respected names in music history," added Russell. "It is awesome to be able to record in one space, like musicians used to, enabling us to keep as much of the complete band's session as possible."

Midnight Communion was named after the hit song Communion that Russell wrote along with Delbert McClinton and Gary Nicholson.

"We are extremely excited that Russell Smith and his world renowned band The Amazing Rhythm Aces are recording here and are part of the new history that will be generated in Cypress Moon Studios, said Holly. "The name on the building may be different but the soul of the studio and its legacy, will live on forever."

Most recently, under the talented hand of Holly, the once-again thriving studio served as the production facility for the feature film When I Find The Ocean. Written, directed and produced by Holly, the film stars Lee Majors, Amy Redford, Richard Tyson, David "Shark" Fralick, George Lindsey, Diane Ladd, Graham Greene and Lily Matland Holly among others. Presently Holly and Cypress Moon Studios are gearing up to begin pre-production on the feature film The Story of Bonnie and Clyde.

The soundtrack for When I Find The Ocean (Blue Moon Records), which was also produced at Cypress Moon Studios by Holly and her husband noted musician Kelvin Holly (a member of the Amazing Rhythm Aces and lead guitarist for Little Richard), boasts an equally impressive roster of rich musical talent including such performers as Russell Smith (The Amazing Rhythm Aces) Jimmy Hall (Wet Willy, Hank Williams Jr., Jeff Beck), Gary Nichols (Mercury Records recording artist), Marty Raybon (Shenandoah), Donnie Fritts (actor and musician formerly with Kris Kristofferson Band), Donna Jean Godshaux-McKay (Grateful Dead, Elvis Presley), Jason Isbell and Shonna Tucker of The Drive-By Truckers, Bobby Hood (singer/songwriter), Carla Russell (Kozmic Mama), Stan Daily (Bluegrass singer) and Cindy Walker Richardson (singer/songwriter) as well as many of Muscle Shoals finest singers, songwriters and musicians. Legendary engineer Steve Melton (Bob Seger, Bob Dylan) also worked on the project.

Midnight Communion, which in addition to Smith (lead vocals, guitar), also features Billy Earheart (keyboards and also one of the original Amazing Rhythm Aces), Kelvin Holly (Guitar), Mark Horn (Drums) and Lorne Rall (Bass). Steve Melton is the engineer. The highly-anticipated CD is set to be distributed by Sunshine Marketing and company President Darlene Marshall. Based out of Jacksonville, FL and Nashville, TN, Sunshine Marketing previously distributed The Amazing Rhythm Aces last album Nothing But The Blues which featured the award-winning song The Blues, The Whole Blues and Nothing but the Blues.
