San Francisco, CA (PRWeb) January 14, 2007 --
The highlight of the holiday season on Maiden Lane came on December 14th, when ten Interior Design School students from the Academy of Art University eagerly awaited the announcement of Project Holiday's winner at world- renowned boutique, Pierre Deux.

Inspired by the popular show "Project Runway", Pierre Deux gave students two and a half yards of Provencal style fabric, twenty-five dollars, complete creative control, and three weeks to design French Country home accessories with holiday flare. Store patrons voted on their favorite design between November 24th and December 14th, 2006.

While family and friends sipped on champagne and spread holiday cheer, The Interior Design School students proudly showed off their creations to patrons and lobbied for more votes. Estelle Fabre's Calendar de l'Avent was the winner for displaying both the charm of Provencal design as well as the Holiday spirit. Her designated charity, Drawbridge-An Arts Program for Homeless Children, will be the beneficiary of Estelle's design talents.

The Project Holiday Contest is a wonderful example of the Academy's long-standing commitment to giving back to the community. "In its inaugural year, Project Holiday gave students a great opportunity to display their talents, gain recognition for their work and offered a chance for students to win money for the charity of their choice," says Daniel Chikos, Store Manager of Pierre Deux San Francisco.

Academy of Art University is an accredited member of ACICS, NASAD, Council for Interior Design Accreditation (Formerly FIDER), (BFA-IAD), and NAAB (M-ARCH).
