Now entering its 24th year, the event draws hundreds of competitors and raises hundreds of thousands of dollars to fulfill the wishes of scores of Mid-Atlantic children battling serious illness. Athletes will take to the sea to swim the 1.5k course along Sea Colony's oceanfront. Emerging from the surf, competitors will then tackle a 36k bike trek through
Bethany Beach and other coastal areas. The triathlon ends with a 10k run on Coastal Highway, with the Delaware Beaches surf just feet away. A seaside picnic and award ceremony wraps up the weekend.
Triathletes can compete in individual and team contests. Online registration for the event will soon be available at the Mid -Atlantic Chapter's Web site - midatlantic.wish.org - and participants can sign up there for e-mail notification when the registration officially opens.
