Momentive Performance Materials has introduced Silwet* HS-312 spreader and Silwet HS-429 penetrant. These new agricultural adjuvants offer increased hydrolytic stability to pesticide formulators, providing the opportunity to incorporate the performance and efficacy advantages of silicone spreaders and penetrants into "in-can" products. In the past, conventional silicone adjuvants could not be used successfully due to limitations on shelf-life.

"By incorporating these innovative adjuvants "in-can", pesticide formulators may now offer their customers all the advantages of silicone superspreaders and penetrants. With superior spreading performance at lower concentrations relative to other commercial surfactants, and with extended stability in water-based formulations that range from pH 3 to pH 12, Silwet HS-312 spreader offers in-can pesticides the potential for lower spray application rates and enhanced efficacy. Silwet HS-312 spreader is also compatible with a number of agrochemical components, and can be dispersed into water-based agricultural formulations, yielding products with excellent shelf life.
Silwet HS-429 penetrant is an excellent choice for formulators to consider for significant enhancement of the efficacy of their glyphosate and other water-soluble herbicide products. Optimized to provide excellent penetration, as well as extended stability in the 4-9 pH range, it is a cost-effective adjuvant that can replace Tallow Amine Ethoxylates (TAE) and other common commercial surfactants. Also, Silwet HS-429 penetrant may be used at rates that are as much as ten times lower compared to conventional surfactant adjuvants. Compatible with many agrochemical components, Silwet HS-429 penetrant is easily dispersed into glyphosate formulations; yielding products with excellent clarity, phase stability and storage stability.
