Convergys Corporation (NYSE:CVG), a global leader in providing customer care, human resources, and billing services, and the largest provider of outsourced customer care services in the world, announced today that a group of employees from its Gurgaon contact center has visited St. Mary's Home for the Aged at the invitation of Helpage India.

Helpage is an Indian non-governmental organization (NGO) that works nationwide to improve care and quality of life for senior citizens. Many of the elderly people, for whom Helpage advocates, are confined to group homes and do not often have the opportunity to spend time with younger people.
A group of 25 Convergys employees recently learned of Helpage's mission and quickly organized a trip to St. Mary's Home for the Aged in North Delhi to spend a day with the resident senior ladies, many of whom long for the affection of their grandchildren who may no longer be with them.
The Convergys volunteers felt the day was a great success. The young professionals quickly learned that the residents of St. Mary's represent an immense storehouse of wisdom and by simply giving them the opportunity to share that wisdom, the volunteers gained more traditional knowledge and insight than they thought possible from the visit.
Through the day, talking and learning from the elderly residents quickly turned into singing and celebrating. The group sang patriotic and religious songs and the Convergys employees presented gifts to their hostesses, thanking them for allowing the team to spend the day in their company.

Following the visit, Deepa Das, Convergys Manager of Operations, had this to say about the experience and the women that she met: "There was great enthusiasm in their voices which emphasized their zeal to live and enjoy life. They made us understand and carry their voices, which state that they are not the past but the foundation of the future."
It was a day to be remembered and a day that very well may be repeated in the future.
