ShermansTravel Media Appoints Former Dow Jones VP Alfred Payton as Vice President of Business Development

ShermansTravel Media, one of the fastest-growing travel media companies, today announced the appointment of Alfred Payton, 41, a former Vice President at Dow Jones, as its new Vice President of Business Development.

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 16, 2007 -- ShermansTravel Media, one of the fastest-growing travel media companies, today announced the appointment of Alfred Payton, 41, a former Vice President at Dow Jones, as its new Vice President of Business Development.

Founded in 2002, ShermansTravel Media publishes several travel product and services, including ShermansTravel.com, the web's leading source for editor-screened travel deals and destination advice, travel e-newsletters and bulletins, QuickSearch (a rate comparison tool for airfare, hotels and packages), and Sherman's Travel magazine.

The appointment of Payton comes at a time of major growth for ShermansTravel Media.

In February, ShermansTravel.com's flagship e-newsletter, "Sherman's Top 25" (www.shermanstravel.com/top25), surpassed 4 million subscribers and, last fall, the company expanded its brand offline with the successful launch of Sherman's Travel, the first magazine geared for sophisticated travelers who are value-conscious.

Payton comes to ShermansTravel Media with 20 years of business development, marketing, and consulting experience in the media and technology industry.

Most recently he served as Vice President of Business Development - Dow Jones Licensing, where he helped expand the company's $40 million licensing operation, which includes content from The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, Dow Jones Newswires, and its other top-tier business publications.

In his new position, Payton will spearhead ShermansTravel Media's business development initiatives, with a focus on developing new content partnerships and building on the company's existing relationships with leading media companies such as MSNBC.com, MSN.com, Yahoo!, and USAToday.com.

"With the successful launch of our magazine and the continued growth of ShermansTravel.com, this is an exciting time for the company," said Sherman. "We're thrilled to be working with a seasoned executive like Alfred who shares our vision for taking ShermansTravel Media to the next level."

Prior to joining Dow Jones in 2005, Payton served as vice president of sales & business development for three years at Interdimensions, an interactive media and technology firm with clients including Time Warner, WebMD, and JP MorganChase. Earlier in his career, Payton held management and consulting positions at leading companies, including C-ATS Software, SunGard Capital Markets, and Devon System.

A graduate of Harvard University, Payton lives in New York City.
