Homes For Our Troops to Build Specially Adapted Home for Severely Wounded New Milford, New Jersey Veteran

Homes For Our Troops founder, John Gonsalves, announced the beginning of 2nd NJ project.

New Milford, NJ (PRWeb) April 15, 2007 -- Homes for Our Troops, a Massachusetts based 501 (c)(3) organization that builds and adapts homes for handicap accessibility for our most severely wounded veterans will be reaching out to the local community members to help provide a new home for Cpl. Visnu Gonzalez.

On April 21st, 2004, while serving in Iraq, Visnu was shot by a sniper, severing his spinal cord in the C-6, C-7 level. He also received a shot to his left subclavian artery that caused severe bleeding and near death. Despite surgery to stabilize his vertebra, today, Cpl Gonzalez remains paralyzed from the upper chest down.

Visnu's home is the second such project that Homes for Our Troops is undertaking in NJ. In Wharton, NJ, Homes for Our Troops is currently building a brand new, barrier-free home for SPC James Benoit was severely wounded Sept. 8, 2005, by a roadside bomb attack in Iraq that severely wounded his backside, and left him confined to a wheelchair with the long-term prognosis that he may never walk again without assistance.

Now Homes for Our Troops is hoping to duplicate the local business involvement and the community volunteerism in the Bergen County area for another wounded American Hero. Homes for Our Troops has committed to building a home for Visnu to suit his living needs now that he is confined to a wheelchair. We will be calling on local residents and businesses to donate building materials, services, professional building labor and monetary donations to help with Visnu's home.

A ground breaking event for this project is scheduled for June 3, 2007 (details to follow)
