Grantham University, an Online University, Receives Award from Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City

Grantham University, an online university, announced it received a Cornerstone Award from the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City in recognition of its business expansion. The Economic Development Corporation established the Cornerstone Award more than 20 years ago to identify and honor economic development projects that contribute to the growth and stability of Kansas City's economy.

Kansas City, MO (PRWeb) April 13, 2007 -- Grantham University, an online university specializing in educating working adults, today announced it received a Cornerstone Award from the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City in recognition of its business expansion. The Economic Development Corporation established the Cornerstone Award more than 20 years ago to identify and honor economic development projects that contribute to the growth and stability of Kansas City's economy.

"We're thrilled to receive this award from the Economic Development Corporation," said Tom Macon, chairman of Grantham University. "We look forward to continuing our expansion and growth in Kansas City. By August 2007, we plan to have 335 employees and additional 5,000 square feet of office space."

Currently, Grantham University leases 30,000 square feet of office space at Zona Rosa and has 226 employees. The University relocated to Kansas City from Slidell, Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

The 2007 Cornerstone Awards will be given out at a reception on Thursday, April 12. In addition, award winners such as Grantham University will be recognized at the annual awards luncheon at the Marriott Muehlebach Hotel on Friday, April 13. More than 900 guests, including Mayor Kay Barnes, will be in attendance.
