Thunderbird Expands Asian Operations

In an effort to expand its Asian operations, Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management has named Michele von Rautenkranz as its first Director of Regional Initiatives - Southeast Asia. The position will be based in Singapore and will have regional responsibility for Thunderbird activities and operations in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Brunei, and Singapore.

Thunderbird, the world leader in global management education, is committed to a global presence that serves the needs of its worldwide network of clients, students, and alumni. The new regional position will strengthen Thunderbird's ability to serve this dynamic and economically-important part of the world.

Ms. von Rautenkranz, a Thunderbird alumna, joins the school after a year as general manager of the American Association of Singapore. Her experience includes years in international banking and nonprofit fundraising and leadership in both the United States and Europe.

"We are thrilled to have Ms. von Rautenkranz join the Thunderbird team," said Thunderbird president Dr. Angel Cabrera. "Her extensive experience in global business and her long history of support for Thunderbird make her an ideal regional ambassador for the school."

Von Rautenkranz will coordinate the school's efforts to recruit students for all its degree programs, serve corporate clients through the provision of cutting-edge executive education offerings, support local alumni and develop institutional partnerships.

The new position joins Thunderbird operations in Beijing, Shanghai, Moscow, Prague, Geneva, Latin America and the United States as part of Thunderbird's global learning network.

Thunderbird's Singapore operation was made possible by a generous donation by Thunderbird alumnus and Singapore resident Christopher J. Fussner, President of Trans-Tec TransTechnology Pte Ltd.
