Prevention and Health Management Firm, U.S. Preventive Medicine, Appoints Former Ernst & Young, LLP Executive as President and COO

Dallas, United States

Prevention and health management company, U.S. Preventive Medicine, Inc. (www.USPreventiveMedicine.com) has announced the appointment of former Ernst & Young, LLP Executive, Brian Baum, as President and Chief Operating Officer. The company is rolling out a national system of preventive care centers in co-ownership with hospitals and physician groups. The local Centers for Preventive Medicine(R) offer employers and consumers comprehensive prevention, behavior modification and health management services.

"Brian will direct the launch and national marketing effort to organize and commercialize the prevention and health management market in partnership with hospitals and physician groups.

The key differentiator of our business model is that unlike many health care services companies that take business away from physicians and hospitals, we are a catalyst to drive new business into our provider partners. Brian's extensive experience and contacts at the highest levels of the health care industry bring tremendous value to the corporate team and our development efforts. We are fortunate to have someone of Brian's caliber and talent as the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company," said Christopher Fey, U.S. Preventive Medicine Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

"Recognition of the exponential growth in demand from employers and consumers for prevention, behavior modification and health management services is what drew me to U.S. Preventive Medicine. By working in partnership with hospitals and physician groups to organize and commercialize the prevention and health management market, we can bring tremendous value to the health care industry. This is a company that is going to make a difference, and I look forward to the challenges ahead," Baum said.

Baum founded and launched the Health Record Network Foundation (HRN) in March, 2004, in association with Duke University -- Fuqua School of Business, Duke University Health System and Duke Medical Center. HRN is a not-for-profit organization designed to create consumer market demand for automated health information records and to support that demand through the creation of a nationally branded service organization.

Prior to the formation of the Health Record Network Foundation, Baum was Chief Marketing Officer at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young's (CGE&Y) Health and Financial Services practice. Previously, at Ernst & Young he led a pioneering effort to create the first ever online consulting service -- Ernie(TM), that was provided by a "big six" consulting firm. This service integrated all services of Ernst & Young, including tax, advisory services and consulting. His work on Ernie(TM) resulted in an induction into the Smithsonian Institute -- Innovations in Technology; a prestigious award given to individuals and organizations that profoundly impact the application of technology in the business world.

Baum joined Ernst & Young from Bell Atlantic Company, where he was the applications director for Bell Atlantic Networked Desktop Solutions and led early efforts to develop emerging applications including desktop collaboration, remote access and telecommuting support services.

Baum has been a frequent guest of CNN and CNBC business programs. He also served as a guest lecturer at the Entrepreneur of the Year(R) Institute and serves on the Board of Advisors for the Information Technology Services Marketing Association (ITSMA), and the Duke University, Fuqua School of Business's Health Sector Advisory Council. He holds a B.S. degree in marketing from the University of Baltimore and has attended the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Executive Education Program.

U.S. Preventive Medicine, Inc. is a privately held company headquartered in McKinney, Texas. The company recently completed a $5.0 million investment round to fund the initial rollout of its national system of Centers for Preventive Medicine.
