Millions To Pray On Thursday, May 4th -- Thanks Giving Square Named Location for Dallas Community

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) May 4, 2006 –- In the midst of war abroad, controversial issues at home, and fear of epidemics and natural disasters, many of Americans turn to God for answers, guidance, and protection. Thursday, May 4th is the day that millions will gather together in prayer for the 55th annual National Day of Prayer. The Dallas community is invited to join together at Thanks Giving Square from 12 p.m. (Noon) to 1:30 p.m.

The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America when the Continental Congress issued a proclamation setting aside a day of prayer in 1775. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.

"There is no greater expression of faith than when we agree with God and each other through prayer. Prayer is a divine transition whereby we exchange our petitions and praise to receive his peace and power." said Rev. Bryan Carter, Senior Pastor, Concord Church. Rev. Carter will be giving a special message at the Dallas gathering.

This year's theme, "America, Honor God," based on the biblical scripture 1 Samuel 2:30- "Those who honor me, I will honor" is a call to the nation to seek God's face and ask for his protection and blessings over our nation.

The National Day of Prayer Dallas Celebration will be held Thursday, May 4, 2006 at Thanks Giving Square, located downtown Dallas at 1627 Pacific Ave., Dallas, TX 75201 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM with the official program beginning at 12:05 PM.
