Dr. Cipriano, Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer at the University of Virginia Health System (UVA Health System) in Charlottesville, Virginia possesses a vast wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise in many areas of nursing and healthcare. Dr. Cipriano has set herself apart as a nursing leader throughout her 30 years of clinical practice, teaching experience, ongoing research projects, and has authored a number of articles for nursing textbooks and journals. Dr. Cipriano currently oversees over 3,000 employees, including all nursing personnel and Inpatient services, Home Health, Outpatient Clinics, Cancer Center, Heart and Vascular Center, Social Work Department and Pharmacy Services at UVA Health System. She is also Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Virginia School of Nursing. Dr. Cipriano previously held the posts of Administrator, Clinical Services at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC and Associate Professor at the College of Nursing at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Cipriano is the recipient of a number of honors and awards that include American Academy of Nursing Fellow, American Nurses Foundation Scholar, Sigma Theta Tau International Distinguished Scholar, HBO-HealthQuest Nurse Scholar, and Who's Who in American Nursing. Throughout her career, she has held numerous elected and appointed positions in national nursing organizations, including the role of Treasurer of ANA.

The journal will be distributed monthly starting in October 2006 to an audience of more than 150,000 members of the ANA as well as an additional 25,000 nurses in all practice settings.
