Gatlinburg Tennessee Prepares for Second Annual Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival

Gatlinburg, TN (PRWEB) May 3, 2006 -- Gatlinburg Tennessee Prepares for Second Annual Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival

It's almost time for the second annual Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival, bringing artists from all over the country to beautiful Gatlinburg, Tennessee for a fun-filled weekend celebrating the arts! The Festival runs 10 AM to 8 PM Saturday, May 20, and 10 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, May 21, and will be held in downtown Gatlinburg at Ripley's Aquarium and River Rd. Admission is free to the general public, and high attendance is expected.

This family-oriented event is produced by volunteers to benefit the Sevier County Arts Council and the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, an internationally recognized school for visual arts. In addition to artists from around the country, the festival will include music and delicious cuisine.

Ninety percent of the artists at the show are selected through a jury process. Judges include art experts such as university professors, gallery owners, and local artists. Other booth spaces will be occupied by last years winners, and specially invited artists. Many different media will be represented, from ‘traditional' types such as painting and sculpture, to functional art like jewelry, baskets, and metalwork, to modern types of art including digital art. Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in both 2d and 3d categories, and the 1st place winner in each of these will be awarded a partial scholarship to a weeklong class at Arrowmont School. The best artist in each medium will be automatically accepted to GFAF 2007.
