Saugatuck's McNee to Join SaaS Panel at Cowen Technology Conference

Westport, Connecticut (PRWEB) May 22, 2006 -- Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is rapidly evolving beyond its current focus on cost-effective software application delivery toward an integrated business service provisioning platform.

That's one of the key messages that Bill McNee, Saugatuck's Founder and CEO, will share as a participant and panellist at Cowen and Company's 34th Annual Technology Conference. Entitled "One Demand: The Many Faces of Software-as-a-Service," the panel is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, May 31st, at the New York Palace Hotel. Joining Mr. McNee on the panel to discuss key market trends as well as in-depth views of their firm's current operations will be Bob Gatewood, CTO athenahealth, Jim McGiver, CFO NetSuite, Eric Rubin, President, DreamFactory, and Michael Topolovac, CEO, Arena Solutions. The panel will be moderated by Peter Goldmacher, Vice President, Cowen and Company.

Mr. McNee's comments and insights will be based on a recently published research report by Saugatuck entitled "SaaS 2.0: Software-as-a-Service as Next-Gen Business Platform." The report highlights that SaaS is at a fundamental "tipping point" between the current generation of software functionality delivered as a cost-effective service (what Saugatuck calls SaaS 1.0), and the emerging generation of blended software, infrastructure, and business services arrayed across multiple usage and delivery platforms and business models (what Saugatuck calls SaaS 2.0).

To put it simply, SaaS 2.0 significantly extends and fundamentally changes what we think of and use as SaaS today. SaaS 2.0 will incorporate advanced SOA and business process management technologies to provide a next-generation business management platform that competes with, and in many cases, replaces, traditional enterprise applications. The complete research study, published by Saugatuck on April 26th, is available on the company's web site at www.saugatech.com/239order.htm.

"I'm delighted to join this exciting panel, and to share some of the important insights and conclusions from our most recent research study," said McNee. "The SaaS market is at a critical inflection point it its growth, especially as SMB buyers begin to fully embrace SaaS for mission critical workloads."

About the Research

The research study is based on an extensive research program that included a web survey of more than 150 senior executives, 40 detailed interviews and 15 deep-dive vendor briefings, all conducted between January 2006 and March of 2006. More than two-thirds of the user firms participating in the research had revenues greater than $500 million per year. Details regarding this research and summary findings can be found by visiting Saugatuck's web site at www.saugatech.com.
