Citizenship America: Helping New Immigrants to Help Themselves

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) May 2, 2006 -- Citizenship America™ offers self-help guides and videos for new immigrants to help ease the difficult process of assimilating and becoming and well informed US citizens. US Immigration law is complex and has undergone massive changes since the September 11th terrorist attacks. As result many new immigrants are not only confused, but downright suspicious of government authorities. Frequently, aliens are eligible for immigration benefits but imply cannot afford to hire a lawyer and are too afraid to file for benefits without some guidance less they become targeted for deportation.

Thomas W. Goldman and Peter J. Loughlin, co-founders of the organization and authors of a number of immigration guides and videos, are US immigration lawyers with offices in Orlando and Naples Florida. In their practice they have discovered a hidden subculture of immigrants unable to afford professional legal representation—and unable to apply for immigration status and benefits for which they may be eligible. They made a decision to do something about this and ultimately formed Citizenship America™ to address the issue.

According to Peter Loughlin, "we were amazed to find immigrants who could have filed for green cards or US citizenship decades ago but just didn't know what to do or how to obtain help." Many of these individuals have been burned by illegal immigration schemes that seem to run rampant in immigrant communities. "Who can blame them for being afraid" said Tom Goldman, "affordable and competent help is scarce irrespective of one's budget."

The company's mission is to develop a series of affordable information products in several languages including Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Portuguese and Polish. Plans are also underway to bring free educational seminars directly to immigrant communities and to develop US immigration outreach centers in major cities to provide sorely needed services to local immigrant communities.
