Stockbridge, GA (PRWEB) May 18, 2006 -- Gregory Bernard Banks, whose book Phoenix Tales: Stories of Death & Life is a finalist for ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year Award, has released a brand new novelette via Amazon Shorts. -- The Summoner (ASIN: B000FJGQF4, ebook, 50 pp, $0.49, Amazon.com/Shorts).

The Summoner, a novelette about an ancient wizard-like being who seeks redemption through the completion of one final task, is now available for download from Amazon.com. The story takes place in the land of Midgarde, where a once vanished foe, driven out of their universe three thousand years ago, is about to return. Davian, a member of the Order of Permeation, also known as the Summoners, has waited all this time to seek redemption for the sins of his brother Scapin, whose past failure has allowed for the eventual return of the evil Kerith. But the Knights of Mandrake, whose mythical powers were the only ones on Midgarde capable of standing up to the Kerith, were destroyed in the last battle. Now it is up to Davian and his apprentice Shalmara to lead the desperate plan that, even if successful, could mean the death of them both.
