Memorial Day is a federal holiday that commemorates our American heroes
who have died in military service to our country. On May 29 Americans
will come together and pay their respects at cemeteries, memorials and
parades, and a National Moment of Remembrance will take place at 3 p.m.
www.VetFriends.com, the premier web site for reuniting U.S. veterans,
active military, family and friends, carries this spirit and tradition -
offering an online memorial, a nationwide parade directory and other
features in support of our U.S. military.
www.VetFriends.com is an easy-to-use online web site providing services
such as: people search for veterans, active military, family and
friends; reunion postings; message boards; past and present military
photos; military jokes; information on how to receive military records
and medals; and more.
To honor our soldiers who have sacrificed for our country,
www.VetFriends.com has developed an online casualty memorial at
www.VetFriends.com/memorial. Visitors can search by State, military
branch and war to view and submit bios and photos in memory of our
fallen heroes.
A Memorial Day parade/events directory is available for people to find
events in their area to support our veterans and active military. The
directory will highlight locations, dates and times of the Holiday's
events at www.VetFriends.com/memorialparades/. Coordinators can submit
and register their events at this address as well.
Founded by a veteran in support of our veterans.
The idea of an easy-to-use, online, veteran registry came to its
founder, Marine Corps veteran of Desert Storm Dale F. Sutcliffe, during
a conversation with his father-in-law, who had served during the Korean
War. When asked whether he would attend a hypothetical reunion with his
old Army unit, his father-in-law responded, "I'd be on the next plane to
Korea to see those guys." Reflecting on the depth of this reply,
Sutcliffe realized those special bonds often withstand the test of time
precisely because of the unique and often difficult circumstances under
which they were formed. Now, those bonds can be reestablished through
modern technology.
With over 655,000 members, www.VetFriends.com LLC is a web site designed
