Even as Christian/gospel music rakes in millions and has grown to the sixth most popular genre (ahead of Latin, jazz, classical and new age selling more than 4.3 million units in 2005), one out of every five churched adults admitted they had no idea what the most important outcome of worship is (Barna). And, only three out of ten view worship as something focused on God.

"Our modern-day culture has complicated worship. We have downloaded, digitized, and driven our worship with technology. We have pumped-up, hyped-up, pre-formed, pre-fabricated our worship with glam and glitz trying to make it more appealing. We have settled for the sensational , the trendy, the mass-marketed and the "latest" in our worship. We have become so enamored with new gadgets and the latest thing that we forget that worship is for God—not for us," said Boschman who will serve as dean of the Platinum International Worship Institute. In 1986, he and his wife Teresa formed the International Worship Institute (IWI) to use the Bible as the source for deepening the churches' worship experience.
Boschman grew up a devout Mennonite, who believed that singing harmony and lifting hands in praise was blasphemy. After experiencing a church revival at Glad Tidings Temple in Vancouver, Canada in 1973, Boschman returned to the scriptures for guidance and has been leading churches to crowded arenas there ever since.
In Psalms 134:2, LaMar found biblical support for the experience at Glad Tidings Temple that challenged his Mennonite upbringing: "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord!" As a result, he went vertical for the first time. Soon after during a presbytery service, he received the calling for fulltime evangelism: "You shall come and go and the spirit of an evangelist shall be upon you!"
In late April, Boschman's voice and arms reached vertically toward the heavens as he sang center stage with fellow worship leaders Darlene Zschech and Ron Kenoly. A crowd of 20,000 worshipers packed into the Los Angeles Sports Arena during closing ceremonies of the Azusa Street Centennial Anniversary. Signature worship moments like these have come to define Boschman as one of the world's most influential worship facilitators—the subject of an upcoming article in the June issue of Charisma magazine.
During the Platinum Worship Institute (www.worshipinstitute.com), worship leaders, musicians, pastors, dancers, choir directors and worshipers from around the globe will engage in 100 workshops, Biblical teaching, musical training and vertical worship in small groups and packed auditoriums. Sounds of hymns, gospel, Latin, jazz, ethnic drums, and alternative music usher in God's presence for teens to grandparents representing many cultures, countries and church denominations. Through more than 50 accomplished faculty members, IWI will offer special clinics in children's worship, worship leading, percussion, vocal, multi-media, songwriting, dance, prophetic worship, audio, keyboard and guitar.
