Division, in response to North American hospitals demand for further
protection of both sensitive medical items - as well as increased
protection of patient medical information, is providing secure access
restrictions doors for their pneumatic tube system (PTS) user stations.
Often times these send/receive material transport stations are located
in areas within the hospital where constant staff vigilance cannot be
maintained. The TransLogic pneumatic tube system carriers transport a
wide range of potentially sensitive items including patient records,
prescribed medications, narcotics and laboratory specimens.
Swisslog now offers station access doors which provide controlled staff
access. The door, which can be easily retrofitted onto existing
TransLogic pneumatic tube systems. The electro-magnetic system requires
authorized users to enter a Personal Identification Number via the PTS
control panel in order to open the door and gain access.
Unique PIN's can be assigned, and easily changed, on demand. The system
features an electro-magnetic lock which holds the door securely in the
closed position. Once the PIN is entered, the lock releases, a message
appears on the user control panel that access has been accomplished.
An invalid PIN entry results in an invalid attempt message on the
display panel. The door automatically resets once the door is returned
to the closed position.
Regulatory agency inspections within hospitals are proving to be a
driving force behind the increasing demand for PTS system access
restriction.
