This groundbreaking program is operated in conjunction with the Hospitality Outreach Services Division of UNLV's William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration. Based on extensive industry research with the goal of increasing professionalism in the wedding planning industry, this program aims to create a legion of competent professionals well-versed in the intricacies and ethics in wedding coordination and design.
The inaugural program begins June 6, 2006 on the campus of UNLV. Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-9pm for a period of two months. Participants are required to successfully complete the classroom program, a final project and an internship (waived for industry professionals on request) to receive the Certificate.
The Wedding Coordination & Design Certificate program is comprehensive, and appeals to both new entrants as well as established veterans. It is designed to provide participants with a foundation of knowledge in wedding planning and the confidence to succeed in the industry. Graduates are prepared for careers as independent wedding consultants, employment as planners with hotels/resorts and special event companies, or for positions with allied businesses. Within the 9 modules that comprise the program, topics include consultations, destination weddings, time-line development, coordination, budgeting, site selection, ceremony planning, officiate selection, event entertainment, licensing, floral design & concepts, reception planning, communication & teamwork, reception design & concepts, cultures, religious traditions, vendor selection, scheduling, contracts & payments, creative concepts, color schemes, food & beverage planning, risk management, ethics, career development and more.

Wedding Professionals of Las Vegas (WPLV), the leading professional wedding planning association in Las Vegas, is the industry partner of the UNLV/TISOH Wedding Coordination & Design Certificate program.
