Manager, Alex Godsell, 17, said, "Our 16 year old bassist is a massive Babyshambles fan, so he bought tickets. When it was announced the gig was for over-18`s, he was devastated.
"They thought of sneaking in,then decided to try and play. It was so outrageous, we thought it might work. With the gig being last-minute, we were hoping to cash in the chaos."
The five, all taking AS levels, took their equipment to the club after class. After making out they were the support band and that there had been some misunderstanding with bookings, Babyshambles manager agreed to let them play.
They opened the gig, did four songs and went down very well. The audience was encouraging and the guys were ecstatic - they couldn't believe their luck. From then on the night got better. Babyshambles arrived and we got to hang out with them. We told them the story and they loved what we had done. Pete was charming, supportive and genuinely nice to us. We had a jam, he sang along and let us take some photos. Alex said they saw no evidence of any bad behaviour from Doherty." All that came across was that he was a nice guy."
Local boys - Vocalist Will Kerr 16, lead guitarist Lewis Tobia, 17, rhythm guitarist Dan Courtney, 17,bassist Sam Johnson , 16, and drummer Den Morse, 17 have been together for four months. They are now hoping their Libertines and Smiths - influenced indie pop - and the fact they have now supported Babyshambles - will land them a recording deal.
All go to Bournemouth School except Sam who is at Poole Grammar.
Richard Bick, marketing manager for Twisters said: "They turned up really early which no band normally does. They all look really young. It was great experience for them and they spent a lot of time in the dressing room with Pete and the other band members."
