During GLOBALCOMM(TM)2006, TIA's new successful trade show, TIA has announced the conclusion of the 11th Global Standards Collaboration meeting, GSC-11. Matthew J. Flanigan noted: "It was TIA's pleasure to host this meeting before GLOBALCOMM(TM), since global standards drive global markets. In fact the theme of the GSC-11 meeting was, 'Standardization advancing global communications;' at TIA we restate that to: 'Standardization advancing GLOBAL COMMunications.'"
Anil Kripalani, chair of TIA's Technical Committee and the overall GSC-11 chairman noted: "People's lives are positively impacted by the world of modern global telecommunications. Leaders from ICT standards bodies from around the world came together this week to address a wide range of subjects including healthcare, public safety, and entertainment, and to continue harmonizing their standards activities and increasing the collaboration in the global community."
The occasion also marked the final GSC participation for two senior world standards leaders. Karl Heinz Rosenbrock, the retiring Director General from ETSI, was specially honored during GSC-11 and at the TIA GLOBALCOMM Dinner where he was presented the TIA Spirit of Innovation Award. This GSC meeting also marked the final GSC for Houlin Zhao, Director of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB), who will be ending his leadership as the Director of the TSB.
TIA was also able to arrange presentations during the GLOBALCOMM(TM) SUMMIT highlighting standards work in each region, EMEA, the Americas, and Asia Pacific.
