TIA Presents First GLOBALCOMM(TM) Icon Award to BT Wholesale CEO Paul Reynolds During New Show

Chicago, United States

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) presented its first annual GLOBALCOMM(TM) Icon Award to BT Wholesale Chief Executive Paul Reynolds of the United Kingdom today, citing his outstanding leadership and visionary innovation. The presentation was made during TIA's new GLOBALCOMM(TM) 2006 exhibition and conferences at Chicago's McCormick Place.

Matthew J. Flanigan, president of the 600-member trade association organizing the event, called Reynolds "a true visionary because of how he has embraced the convergence of information and communications technology products and services in the truest and most innovative form - integrating fixed, mobile and broadband in building the UK's all-Internet protocol infrastructure, the first national infrastructure of its kind anywhere in the world."

Flanigan noted BT's 21st Century program will reach across more than 170 countries to create the world's widest IP-based network. He added, "Dr. Reynolds' leadership is fundamentally reshaping the business and is creating the most ambitious transformation in the global communications industry."

Dr. Reynolds is addressing a GLOBALCOMM(TM) Summit on Tuesday afternoon, and he will present the Wednesday luncheon keynote speech at the co-located Communications Forums organized by the Chicago-based International Engineering Consortium.

BT Wholesale provides network services and solutions within the UK to more than 600 communications providers, mobile operators and Internet service providers.

TIA's global communications trade show with more than 500 exhibitors and 15 conferences concludes here Wednesday at 3 p.m., along with the simultaneous Outside Plant Expo and its 200 additional exhibiting companies.
