Civic Mindedness: The New Breed of Employees

Clearwater, FL (PRWEB) April 9, 2006 -- As companies grow bigger and bigger, the more they reach out to help others – at least that is how one Florida-based company operates. PostcardMania, the leading direct mail postcard marketing company in the nation, encourages its employees to be civic minded and to give back to their community. And so, its employees volunteer for a host of activities ranging from gathering trash for Clearwater's Annual Spring Clean Up event to The Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce's project to paint houses for lower-income residents.

Anne Fogarty of the Clearwater Main Street Program and Jasmin Napier of Clearwater Community volunteers coordinated the 9th Annual Spring Clean-Up in conjunction with Keep Pinellas Beautiful. On Saturday, March 18th, 35 volunteers – including some PostcardMania Executives - collected 5.27 tons of trash.

The Main Street Program has coordinated Fall and Spring Cleanups for the past seven years. The Fall Cleanup is a part of the National Coastal Cleanup while the Spring Cleanup is a part of the nationwide Great American Cleanup.

At The Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce's 15th Annual "Paint Your Heart Out" Clearwater that was held on Saturday, March 25th, volunteers went out to help restore Clearwater's neighborhoods with a fresh coat of paint on a house in need.

Charles Kern, PostcardMania's Deputy Accounting Director had this to day about his experience: "It was fun. I really enjoyed working with other people in the community. It made me feel good just helping out and not taking a particular bow for it." The volunteers painted two houses that day – one for an 84 year-old-man that Charles found out used to be the neighborhood handy man.

The next civic event is their quarterly street clean-up in coordination with Keep Pinellas County Beautiful. Most employees participate prior to work. When they're done they're rewarded with fresh bagels and cream cheese in the office!

"My employees never cease to amaze me…they are never too good or too proud to help – and I love them for it!" exclaimed Joy Gendusa, PostcardMania's Founder and CEO.
