Dolphin Technology, Inc. Announces the Release of the PuriFile Electronic Document File Inspection Application

Rome, NY (PRWEB) April 27, 2006 -- Dolphin Technology, Inc. today announced the availability of PuriFile™ v2.1 to U.S. government organizations. PuriFile, developed by Dolphin under an Air Force Research Laboratory/ Information Directorate (AFRL/IF) sponsored Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) effort, identifies and assists with removing a wide range of hidden data and metadata within Microsoft® PowerPoint®, Excel and Word documents.

Maintaining a competitive edge in today's fast-paced global marketplace entails the use of Business to Business (B2B) electronic information interchange strategies that rely heavily upon the production, sharing and dissemination of Microsoft Office based documents. PuriFile provides added information assurance to prevent inadvertent or malicious disclosure of sensitive or proprietary information when government documents are downgraded and released, or when commercial organizations post these documents to the Internet, provide them to their customers or share them with other organizations.

"PuriFile v2.1 is truly a breakthrough capability, not only because of the breadth and depth of protection it provides, but also because of its network centric architecture", says Jack LoSecco, President of Dolphin Technology. Being server based, with a web browser interface, an organization can quickly and easily provide PuriFile capabilities to a large community of users at a very low per-user cost. Centralization of inspection capabilities makes upgrading to newer PuriFile versions very easy and allows organizations to centrally administer their hidden data security policy.

LoSecco added that "Since the decision on how best to resolve a hidden data finding is very situation specific, automatic flattening or cleansing capabilities can be problematic." For this reason, PuriFile provides helper utilities called PuriFile Assistants that are accessible from within Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. The Assistants allow users to quickly navigate to a potential hidden data issue in a document, briefing or spreadsheet. Using context sensitive shortcut buttons, the Assistants take action on how best to resolve the finding. PuriFile also provides an Application Programmer Interface (API) allowing it to be accessed by an organization's custom document control applications, if tighter integration is desired.

PuriFile, which has been selected by the National Security Agency (NSA) for use in its Assured File Transfer (AFT) Cross Domain Solution (CDS) initiative, will be showcased at two upcoming Department of Defense (DoD)-sponsored conferences. On May 1-4, 2006 in Colorado Springs, CO, PuriFile will be demonstrated at the Dolphin Technology booth at the Cross Domain Solutions Workshop. The following week, it will be featured at the AFRL/IF booth at the Department of Defense Intelligence Information System (DoDIIS) Worldwide Conference in Dallas, TX, May 8-11, 2006.
