Houston & Boston, United States
SolArc, Inc. and Veson Nautical officially announced today that the two industry leaders have created a joint venture to develop MarineCenter, a functional extension to SolArc RightAngle that enables workflow and data integration of SolArc RightAngle with Veson's Integrated Maritime Operations System (IMOS).
MarineCenter will provide global energy companies a new level of ability to manage their positions and vessel movement costs as hydrocarbon commodity volumes are shipped globally.
"MarineCenter is a great example of how combining the synergies of two best of breed systems creates an entirely new level of capability," said Veson Nautical president John Veson. "Major customers using both our systems have recognized the potential value of utilizing the IMOS voyage, schedule and charter information to make more knowledgeable, real-time trading, pricing and risk exposure decisions. These same customers realize the benefits of incorporating cost and risk curves in initial contracting and scheduling negotiations."
"By combining our systems into MarineCenter, initially for use by global energy companies and large scale energy trading organizations, we will provide shippers and traders with an unprecedented ability to optimize both internal and contractual operations and their organization's response to changes in voyage schedule and market conditions," SolArc industry manager for crude and refined products John Wahl remarked. "The companies are working with existing customers to develop and test the initial release of MarineCenter, which will be the first offering of its kind to enter the market," he added.
Flexibility & Improved Information
Both the SolArc RightAngle commodity trading, risk and logistics management software, and the Veson IMOS chartering, operations and accounting system provide a modular and configurable approach. Because of this flexibility, MarineCenter will be able to support all existing management and reporting structures for any type of marine and trading operation.
Improved system integration is expected to produce more efficient equipment utilization, streamlined payables, demurrage reduction, more accurate allocation of marine costs to internal and external accounts, and improved decision-making for contract marine services. It will also reduce errors and manpower demands; increase automation of port nominations, vessel instructions and dock schedules; improve the timing and accuracy of demurrage claims; and provide better information for trade decisions.
MarineCenter also will build on the strengths of its parent systems in such areas as enabling complete coverage for lease charter arrangements and incorporating marine charter data into cost analyses and forecast curves.
