International Aerospace Exhibition: The Excitement Mounts

Berlin, Germany

Preparations are well advanced for the International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA) 2006. The Airbus A380 is the undoubted star of this year's ILA, and the announcement that it will be visiting the ILA has caused excitement among aviation enthusiasts and indeed anyone who is keen for a closer look at the fascination of aviation and space flight. The world's largest passenger aircraft can be seen in the air on each of the public days. The industry will be meeting from 16 to 21 May at the ILA2006, the year's most important aerospace fair anywhere on the European continent, and quite apart from those aspects of interest to the professionals there will also be plenty to attract the attention of the public. On each of the public days (Friday, 19 to Sunday, 21 May) a varied programme is being prepared with something for all the family, including a spectacular air show featuring aircraft of all sizes and categories, world aerobatics champions, combat jet pilots and the Swiss national team, the Patrouille Suisse. In addition well known aircraft from the past such as the Ju 52 and DC-3 as well as a Bell 206 Jet Ranger will be providing sightseeing flights from the ILA grounds. The Space Hall will take visitors into the world of weightlessness and will use fascinating exhibits to illustrate some of the benefits of space research for mankind. Germany's armed forces, the Bundeswehr, will have the largest display at the ILA, with some 60 aircraft. During the public days, 19 to 21 May, the ILA2006 is open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The cost of a day ticket is 16 EUR, reductions 10 EUR, and children under six accompanied by an adult will be admitted free of charge.
