Santa Monica Based Independent Design Shop Goes Virtual

Santa Monica, Calif. (PRWEB) April 20, 2006 -- Born from a need to find cute and unique clothing for babies as well as adults, the new clothing company, Zoomzawear (www.zoomzawear.com) will be featured on The Switchboards popular podcast for April/May.

Launched by the founders of The Switchboards, the enormously popular forum for "Indie business women," the new, monthly Shop the Switchboard Podcast (www.shoptheswitchboards.com) "is dedicated to bringing the latest from indie designers" to the public. After an open call of indie designs, Zoomzawears the "wave tee" (created under the Zoomzabebe label) for kids was chosen as a featured product. Other popular Zoomzabebe kids tees include "future democrat," "little fishie" and "little whale."

"Zoomzawear has become my clearinghouse of creativity," says owner and designer Tricie Chua who has always searched for clothing not available at the local mall. In 2005, when her niece Josephine was nearing her second birthday, Chua decided to make her gifts instead of buying them. So many inquiries were made as to where one could find those homemade tees and onesies, that she decided to start Zoomzawear.

"I find inspiration in random things," Chua states when asked about her MP3 tees and her Earth tee that features a handmade patch of the earth with the words "Don't mess with my mother" printed below. "I love being able to create unique items be it a shirt or a one-of-a-kind hand-knit bag."

Toddler tees were the impetus, but adult tees soon followed as well as hand knit and felt accessories. Previously seen only in local Southern California Markets and boutiques, Zoomzawear opened its virtual doors late last year and will now break into the podcast realm.
