Prior to Peerflix (http://www.peerflix.com), Mr. Ambras was the Vice President of Products and Services at OnStation Corporation, a provider of CRM solutions to the automotive industry, where he was instrumental in turning the company around and launching many of its defining products. Before his position at OnStation, Mr. Ambras was the Vice President of Engineering at AltaVista Corporation where, in addition to other corporate responsibilities, he created the AltaVista Live portal and also led the development of the company's 20 international Internet search sites.
Mr. Ambras' appointment at AltaVista was formed through the acquisition of Zip2 Corporation, a leading provider of Web-based enterprise software and services to the media industry, where he was also the Vice President of Engineering. In addition to building the engineering team and leading the development of Zip2's technology platform, Mr. Ambras was closely involved in all major enterprise sales efforts. Compaq acquired Zip2 for $307M in April of 1999, which at the time was the largest cash acquisition of any Internet-related startup company.
Prior to Zip2, Mr. Ambras led the development of SGI's innovative software development products for C, C++, Fortran, Ada and Java developers, and contributed to starting the company's digital media efforts. He began his career at Hewlett Packard Laboratories (HP Labs), where he performed research on software development tools and methodologies.
