New Delhi ~ July 6, 2001

Dr. Ahmad Murtadha Ahmed Al Khalil Iraqi Minister for Transport and Communications called on Shri Chaman Lal Gupta Minister of State for Civil Aviation here today. The visiting Minister said that the two countries have very old relations and wanted strengthening of ties in the field of civil aviation. He said that 35 countries have resumed flights in and out of Iraq. He also made a request for opening of offices by the Indian airlines. Shri Gupta said that all our flights are bilateral in nature and that our fleet is very small. . He also said that Government would consider the requests. The Minister was assisted by senior officers of the Ministry. The talks took place in a cordial atmosphere.
