The Minister of Information and Broadcasting Smt. Sushma Swaraj has said that accountability among the mediapersons cannot be brought about by the Government through law or regulation. The best way is that it should come from within by self-discipline rather than through imposition from outside. Accountability means fulfilling one's responsibility towards society.

Delivering the keynote address at a panel discussion on "Freedom of Expression and Accountability" organized by FICCI Ladies Organization here today Smt. Swaraj said that freedom of expression is most important for a successful democratic system and it requires continues discussion. She said that the freedom of media must be guarded zealously but while exercising the freedom the mediapersons must not cross the line of decency. Shri Chandan Mitra, Editor,The Pioneer, Dr. Sanjay Baru, Editor, Financial Express and Dr. K. L. Nandan, Editor, INTV participated in the discussion.
