INDO-NEPAL JOINT WORKING GROUP ON BORDER MANAGEMENT MEET IN NEW DELHI



New Delhi ~ June 28 2001


The 4th India-Nepal Joint Working Group on Border Management is meeting here today & tomorrow (28th & 29th June 2001). The Nepalese Delegation is led by Shri Tika Dutta Niraula Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home of that country and Shri Surendra Kumar Joint Secretary (North-East) Ministry of Home Affairs heads the Indian Delegation to the two-day talks. The two-sides will be discussing among other things Management of India-Nepal Border preventing/curbing, terrorist and criminal activities security arrangements at the Tribhuwan International Airport and Training of immigration and police officials. The Joint Working Group will also review the Joint District Level Boundary Committee Meetings held earlier and also the progress made on Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty strengthening of Extradition Treaty and other related matters.

The last Joint Working Group meeting on Border Management was held at Kathmandu in the first week of February 2000.
