UTILISATION OF FUNDS BY BIG COMPANIES

New Delhi ~ July 23, 2001

Recently the Government has issued instructions to the Registrars of Companies to undertake technical scrutiny of balance sheets of large sized companies. Unlike inspection and investigation technical scrutiny of balance sheets is not a one-time exercise but a continuous process and is undertaken after filing of balance sheets by the companies. Technical scrutiny includes among others verification of utilisation of funds.

This information was given by the Minister of Law Justice and Company Affairs and Shipping Shri Arun Jaitley in a written reply to a question from S/Shri Kapil Sibal and Rajiv Ranjan Singh `Lalan' in the Rajya Sabha today.
