IMPLEMENTATION OF LAW COMMISSION'S REPORTS

Out of a total of 175 Reports submitted by the Law Commission of India 91 Reports have so far been implemented and 33 Reports rejected. Fifty-one Reports are presently under consideration and implementation. 174 Reports have been laid in the Parliament so far. One Report is under process and will be laid in the Parliament as soon as its Hindi version is available.
Out of the 51 Reports now under consideration 16 such Reports fall under List-I and 35 Reports under List-III of the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution of India.
The Government is pursuing implementation of these Reports with the administrative Ministries and Departments concerned through correspondence and periodical meetings. During 2000-2001 19 such meetings were held with concerned Ministries and Departments. As for the implementation of Reports relating to the subjects falling under the List-III of the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution consultations with the State Governments and Union Territory Administrations are carried on by the concerned administrative Ministries and Departments.
Meanwhile the Government has suggested a time-frame of six months to the concerned administrative Ministries and Departments to take a decision regarding implementation of all the remaining 51 Reports.
